Project Location: Navan, County Meath
Project Timeline: Three days of site clearance and preparation, followed by a one-week on-site fitout
Project Scope: Full removal of the existing kitchen and complete installation of the new kitchen including floor and wall tiling, quartz worktops, electrical rewiring and plumbing
Design Style: Modern, accessible kitchen designed for ease of use within a residential care setting
Unique Features: Durable quartz worktops with seamless joins, easy-to-clean tile finishes, and improved layout to suit accessibility needs
Client Goals: To completely modernise the kitchen within Clon Mor House, improving hygiene, workflow, and overall aesthetics while ensuring the space remains user-friendly for both staff and residents
Design Process: Initial site visit to assess existing conditions and discuss requirements with the facility manager. The proposed layout, materials, and finishes were presented using 3D visualisation to help align with client expectations. Once approved, the project moved swiftly through demolition and onto fitout.
Initial Consultation: During the consultation, key requirements were highlighted: removing all old units and finishes, upgrading electrical and plumbing infrastructure, and designing a kitchen that would be practical and safe in a respite care environment. Space planning was important to allow for safe movement and easy access to all appliances.
Design Development: The final layout was reconfigured to create a more ergonomic working triangle, with wider clearances around key stations. Anti-slip tiles and robust finishes were chosen for durability and ease of cleaning. Lighting and socket placement were carefully considered for optimal use.
Materials and Finishes:
Worktops: Polished quartz with subtle veining for a clean, elegant look
Cabinetry: Soft-close units with moisture-resistant finishes
Tiling: Modern ceramic wall tiles and non-slip floor tiles in a neutral tone
Splashbacks: Full-height splashbacks for easy maintenance
Fixtures: Stainless steel sink, integrated extractor fan, and updated LED lighting
Key Design Features:
Complete kitchen strip-out including disposal of all old units, tiles, and fittings
Professionally installed quartz worktops with near-invisible joints
Integrated plumbing and electrical upgrades completed to modern safety standards
A cohesive tile design that adds brightness and cleanliness to the space
Streamlined workflow optimised for caregiving staff
